I practice Kintsugi as an act of care.
Through fracture,
I seek strength through imperfection,
I reveal beauty honoring the identity of each object
and the person who entrusts it to me.

Hello
Welcome to Atelier Hana Tsugi.
A space dedicated to traditional Kintsugi, where broken ceramics are repaired using time-honoured Japanese techniques and natural materials. Atelier Hana Tsugi offers Kintsugi workshops, repair services, and a selection of restored pieces for sale. Through practice and sharing, Atelier Hana Tsugi invites a slower way of relating to objects, imperfection, and value.
My Story
Born in France and based in Hamburg since 2010, Emilie encountered Kintsugi in Taiwan in 2019 and felt an instant, lasting connection. In early 2025, she trained in Kyoto at Pieces of Japan, immersing herself in traditional techniques and their cultural roots. Back to Hamburg, she founded Atelier Hana Tsugi to share the craft with her community and all ceramic lovers. Working with care and intention, she restores objects in a way that honours both their history and the people connected to them, sharing Kintsugi as a practice of resilience, patience, and imperfection.
Why Kintsugi matters
Traditional Kintsugi is shaped by time, patience, and respect for materials, and at Atelier Hana Tsugi we commit to working with slow processes and natural materials that follow the rhythm of each object.
Repairing rather than replacing is a conscious and responsible choice, we choose repair to extend the life of meaningful objects while honoring the resources, energy, and craftsmanship already invested in them.
Practicing traditional methods honours a lineage of artisans, we commit to keeping this knowledge alive by allowing broken objects to remain useful, present, and valued rather than discarded.
